This quote from Sophocles means that don't be a sore loser and get mad that you did't win instead .Congratulate the person who did win and tell them how great they did or tell them it was a good game/match. Don't win by cheating because you are not going gain anything because you will still feel  bad on what you did . It goes worse when you get caught cheating , you can end up losing more than you "won".
